Could Stoke Have Started Any Better?

Stoke City’s start to the Championship season has been amazing, the fans are back onside and there is a real belief of this season becoming a famous one in the club’s history, but could Stoke City be even higher in the table? Let's take a look...

Stoke City have missed the most Big Chances in games, in 10 Championship games, Stoke have missed a combined total of 23 Big Chances, Big Chances are calculated when there is an expectation that the player should score, well Stoke have missed 23 of these, most notably in the games against Barnsley (H) and Preston (A), Stoke had multiple big chances too close out the games but we failed too, if we had beaten Barnsley and Preston, The Potters would be at the peak of the table right now. Well, there is one stat that might raise an eyebrow.

How will Stoke convert more chances than they miss? Let's look at some solutions.

1) The return of Tyrese Campbell

Tyrese Campbell is edging ever so closer too his return into the first team fold, there is an expectation that when he returns, he will be the man again, playing up front with the team playing as they have done so far, Tyrese could explode and light the season on fire. There is a possibility we could see Ty back into the match day squad this Saturday, when The Potters travel to Sheffield United.

2) A Change of System

Another option is to have a revamp in the attacking area, with the likes of Steven Fletcher returning from injury, could he potentially take his place back in the squad ahead of Sam Surridge or Jacob Brown? I feel Nick Powell is a guaranteed starter now upfront, after his impressive performances, so it’s all up to who gets picked over Brown, Surridge and Fletcher.

3) Stick it Out

The final option is to stick with how it is, even though we’ve missed so many big chances, the team is still churning out brilliant performances, I believe Michael O’Neill will go with this option as he has big faith in the players he consistently picks like Jacob Brown for example.
