Easter Egg Appeal a HUGE Success

Updated: Apr 9, 2021

We are Stoke is delighted to share that our Easter Egg Appeal was a huge success thanks to your amazing donations of 275 Easter eggs.

Originally, we set out to bring a smile to the children at The Donna Louise Hospice & on the children's ward at the Royal Stoke hospital but because of your donations then we managed to achieve so much more than that.

On top of the 60 eggs donated to the hospice & the 90 eggs donated to the children's ward at the hospital, we were also able to donate a further 60 eggs to the amazing staff on the COVID ward who continue to fight the invisible enemy to keep us safe. This equates to an egg for each staff member although we must add that all NHS staff are amazing and thank you for everything that you do for us.

We were then in a position to donate more eggs to another charity so we chose to donate the remaining 58 eggs to The Macari Centre whilst also donating 6 to the incredibly inspirational Ashton Hulme via his aunty Julie.

All charities were extremely grateful for all your terrific donations and we were absolutely thrilled to be able to bring a smile to some people in the city This Easter.

To find out just how much it meant, a representative of The Macari Centre said: "The donation of Easter eggs mean that those that are less fortunate get to receive a gift that to others seems normal on Easter Sunday, but to people who have very little it means the world."

An Affinity Spokesperson also said: "We are simply overwhelmed with the response of this year's Easter egg appeal! A huge thank you to all of the customers, staff and stores for their sincere generosity to these amazing charities. It's been an absolute pleasure working with our community and we cannot wait for more campaigns to come. Amazing work from everyone involved!."

Today, we all helped 3 amazing local charities and we thought that we'd post some links to both their websites and Twitter accounts below (if applicable).

Ashton Hulme is an inspirational young goalkeeper who is battling Osteosarcoma and unfortunately he's had to have his right leg amputated as a result. The community are trying to raise enough money so that he can continue to play football by ensuring he has the best prosthetic leg available so that he can continue to follow his dreams of playing professionally.
