Match Preview: Stoke vs Brighton

The FA Cup is back underway, and The Potters will host Brighton at the bet365 stadium with hopes of causing an upset and progressing to the next round.

The Steven Schumacher era is officially underway and what an excellent start he has made so far.

Schumacher is currently unbeaten however will The Potters continue their 6-game unbeaten streak

when they face 7th-placed Premier League side Brighton?

Here’s everything you need to know about The Potters' upcoming game against The Seagulls…

Team News

After what seems like forever Stoke will now have two first-team goalies. This comes due to the

arrival of 26-year-old Daniel Iversen on loan from Leicester City. This was a much-needed

appointment after Stoke’s former first-team goalie Mark Travers was recalled by his parent club

Bournemouth.

Lynden Gooch, Junior Tchamadeu and Bae Jun-ho will unfortunately miss Saturday’s cup action.

Tyrese Campbell is back in first-team training and Mehdi Leris and Enda Stevens are still recovering.

Ben Wilmot is also looking to get back to fitness after returning from his injury against Ipswich Town.

Predicted Starting XI:

Bonham, Hoever, Rose, McNally, Wilmot, Burger, Baker, Johnson, Haskabanovic, Mmaee, Vidigal

Harrison's Prediction:

The FA Cup has built its foundations on upsets and drama, but will The Potters be another one of

those success stories?

Schumacher has filled me with great confidence based on recent performances and has a clear love for the FA Cup he’s mentioned in recent interviews that the “FA Cup is brilliant” and has a special place in his heart after having watched his boyhood club Everton in the FA Cup since he was little.

If Schumacher can use that passion he has for the cup and instil it into this Stoke squad a win could

be on the cards.

However, Brighton is an incredibly tough task. With them performing at such a high standard in

recent years the club will want to capitalise on that by winning a trophy and what better than the FA Cup?

You can have all the man motivation you want but what matters in the end is quality and Brighton

outweighs Stoke heavily in that regard.

Although the game may be at home and the pressure is on Brighton, I can’t help but put my

pessimistic hat on for this one.

Harrison Predicts: Stoke 1-3 Brighton

Head-to-Head

The last time Stoke played Brighton was in the Fa Cup last year which we lost 1-0. However, Stoke

are the most successful team overall winning 16 drawing 16 and losing 10 of their encounters

against The Seagulls.
