Match Preview: Stoke vs Hull

The Potters look to get back to winning ways by beating an in-form Hull side after picking up their

first away point of the season against Huddersfield on Wednesday night.

Despite a frustrating draw against The Terriers, there were many positives to take away from the

game. Stoke looked sharp and quick on the attack but lacked that killer instinct in the final third.

Stoke will need to start turning chances into goals quickly. As The Potters will go on to face a Hull

side who are unbeaten in six.

Here’s everything you need to know about The Potters' upcoming games against The Tigers…

Team News/Ratings:

There were multiple stand-out players from Wednesday night who certainly deserve their names on

the starting eleven again.

Haksabanovic looked lively going forward and really helped to push the tempo up the pitch although his shooting was less than desired, he put in a great shift.

Ben Wilmot has been excellent for The Potters this season and topped off his brilliant performances

so far by scoring a header to give Stoke the lead in the 62nd minute against Huddersfield.

Ben Pearson will unfortunately miss the upcoming game against Hull due to him picking up a 1

match ban after picking up 5 yellow cards.

Andre Vidigal could be back soon with Neil stating in the pre-match press conference that he was

“very close” to a return.

The Manager:

Liam Rosenior really fits the current Hull City model. A relatively young and exciting manager with

little experience.

Hull has signed a plethora of young, hungry, and talented players who are really looking to make a name for themselves. From former Stoke loanee Liam Delap to Aaron Connolly, Hull looks to be one of the must-watch teams in the Championship this season.

However, despite the team's young age, Rosenior has done an excellent job so far. The Tigers have

been a hard team to break down this season, due to them tracking back excellently, giving them a

numerical advantage, which puts a stop to counter attacks.

Positional awareness has also been a huge focus with players focusing on suffocating the opposition when they approach their penalty area.

Overall Hull looks like a difficult team to beat, and should The Potters get a chance to open the

scoring it's important that they take it.

Opposition Player to Watch:

Aaron Connolly the former Brighton striker could create havoc in the final third. The Irishman has

already scored four goals in seven games and will look to improve those numbers on Sunday.

Connolly despite his small stature is by no means a pushover in the final third. The striker is quick,

fast, and powerful with a seemingly natural finishing ability.

Stoke City’s defence will need to keep an eye on Connolly if they want any chance of coming away from the game with 3 points in the bag.

Head to Head:

Stoke has been by far the better side when they have played Hull City, with Stoke winning 34 drawing 20 and losing 20.
