Match Preview: Stoke vs Leicester

The Potters will host top-of-the-league Leicester at the bet365 Stadium with hopes of turning around their form after two losses on the bounce.

Well, that didn’t go as planned… A game which I expected to be a turn in fortune for The Potters ended up becoming a 3-1 loss against Sunderland.

Nevertheless, Steven Schumacher’s Potters can still win the fans over if they can get a win over a Leicester team which is bound for promotion.

Here’s everything you need to know about The Potters upcoming game against The Foxes…

Team News – January Window Round-Up

With the January transfer window ending its clear that Schumacher is starting to put his team together. With himbringing in a goalkeeper, midfielder and two forwards.

Along with other players also leaving the team I have decided to rank Stoke City’s transfer business.

IN: Daniel Iversen (loan, Leicester) has been an excellent addition to the squad so far. Iversen has been solid at the back with very few errors. 7/10

Luke Cundle (loan, Wolves) looks to be another solid signing with him adding more attacking threat to The Potters midfield. Although he’s been fairly quiet on the goal contributions front, he looks to be a good addition to the squad. 6/10

Million Manhoef (permanent, Vitesse Arnhem) comes in having scored 14 goals in Eredivisie over the last four seasons. Manhoef is a left-footed winger and represents the Neverlands under 21’s. Quick and skilful Manhoef is expected to be an exciting addition to the squad. 7/10

Niall Ennis (permanent, Blackburn Rovers) was previously managed by Schumacher during Plymouth’s promotion season during the 2022/2023 League One campaign. He certainly provided the goal contributions providing 18 in 38. Let’s hope and pray that he can deliver similar results at the bet365. 7/10

OUT: Tommy Simkin (loan, Forest Green Rovers) and Emre Tezgel(loan, MK Dons.) A good way to allow the youngsters to properly gain some valuable experience and play time. 7/10

Dwight Gayle (released) an excellent decision by the club. Gayle has been overwhelmingly average for too long now. His best days are behind him. 10/10

Although only minor changes have been made it’s clear that Stoke City’s transfer business has been positive. Overall, I would rank this transfer window a 7/10

Harrison’s Prediction

This will without a doubt be Stoke’s most difficult game to date. Leicester are flying high and look to be the team to beat.

However, when The Potters visited the King Power this season, they did put in a decent shift considering the injuries at the time.

Although I could choose to put my delusional glasses on and believe that with us having a fully fit squad, we could beat Leicester it's hard to imagine.

Leicester at this moment in time are unfortunately just the better team. But it is the Championship so anything can happen.

MY PREDICTION: STOKE CITY 1 – 3 LEICESTER CITY
