Match Review: Potters complete turnaround to claim first away win of the season.

The Potters were back on the road again, fresh off of a Carabao Cup exit to Bournemouth on Wednesday and headed to Ashton Gate to face Nigel Pearson's Bristol City.

Alex Neil once again opted for a 4 at the back, as his line-up was released, and it included a portion of players who played on Wednesday including Mehdi Leris who repaid his manager's faith.

The whistle blew at Ashton Gate and the first half got underway, Stoke fans watching on in their numbers in the hope that today would be the day that they would win their first away game of the season and it didn't look like it would be within the first 5 minutes.

The Robins had a corner in front of the following Potters contingent which was whipped in to the first man, and with The Potters defence failing to deal with it, Sam Bell got in front of his man and fired it low into the net past Mark Travers. This led to both the fans and the players having that familiar sinking feeling.

Proceedings went from bad to worse when The Robins made it 2-0 inside 15 minutes, this time coming from a turnover in possession as Bristol City pushed forward with Ki Jana Hoever producing a poor back pass which was meant for his centre back but only found Nakhi Wells who curled his effort round the onrushing Mark Travers into the net.

However, a small glimpse of hope was provided later into the game as Stoke began to find their feet and see more of the ball, as a ball was fired forward by Ki Jana Hoever which wasn't dealt with by the Bristol City defence, but it was controlled by Medhi Leris who opened up his body to fire his effort into the top right hand corner of the net to make it 2-1.

The Potters continued to see more possession for the latter stages of the first half but were unable to produce anything from it and it was half time, with The Potters trailing where they left off.

The second half got underway and Stoke started the half, just as they finished the first - starting it with high intensity as Leris provided a perfect ball down the right to Hoever, who crossed the ball into the area low, and it was met by Haksabanovic who saw his effort trickle past the keeper and into the net to make it 2-2.

The Potters were then level and could sense that this was the opportunity to win their first 3 points on the road this season, and they had to wait to take their chance but take it they did, as a ball came up over the top and the header was won by Leris which found Junho Bae who held the ball well against two City defenders and his cross found, 18 year old Nathan Lowe who scored his first Championship goal and sent the following contingent into delirium.

The full time whistle shortly followed and The Potters were finally able to claim their first away win of the season.
