Stoke vs QPR Player Ratings

Following on from a disappointing performance from the Potters, finishing 0-2 losers against QPR, here are my player ratings:

Adam Davies – 6.5 – Not much he could’ve done to prevent the 2 goals. Made a great save from an Austin shot.

Tommy Smith – 4.5 – Poor defensively, lacked any conviction when going forward, crossing was poor.

Danny Batth – 5 – Looked shaky for most of the game, a few decent headers away and a good tackle to stop a QPR 3rd.

Harry Souttar – 6 – Really poor mistake for the goal and didn’t have his best game, very uncharacteristic of Souttar this season.

Rhys Norrington-Davies – 5 – Sometimes erratic when getting forward, not his greatest showing in what has otherwise been a very positive loan move for Rhys.

John Obi-Mikel ( C ) – 6.5 – By far our most consistent player through this rough patch, calm in and out of possession, breaks up play nicely and simply shows quality, something that’s been missing in these last few weeks.

Sam Clucas – 6 – Passing was somewhat inaccurate, however what he can give you in the final 3rd should not be ignored.

Nick Powell – N/A – Went off early thanks to injury, looked up to it before doing so.

Rabbi Matondo – 7 – For the second game in a row he was Stoke’s best player by a long shot. Showing good pace, a willingness to run the line, beat his man and drew fouls at every opportunity and always looked to come forward, also arguably put in Stoke’s best cross.

Steven Fletcher – 6 – Still waiting for that 10th of the season. Not his usual self today at all, needed better service.

Joshua Tymon – 6 – Ran his legs off but to no avail today.

Substitutes:

Jordan Thompson – 5.5 – Another one who didn’t look his normal self, somewhat sloppy and one of his poorer performances followed.

Jacob Brown – 6.5 – Gave a good account of himself, ran the line and nearly forced the QPR goalkeeper into a mistake immediately after coming on. Good pressing as usual.

Sam Vokes – 5 – Pretty much ineffective. As has been the case for most of the season unfortunately.

Substitutes not used:

Blondy Nna Noukeu, Kieran Coates, William Forrester, Eddy Jones, Jordan Cousins, Christian Phelps-Norton

Referee:

Craig Pawson – 4.5 – After being called up to replace Atkinson , Pawson Let both sides get away with things but also made a lot of odd decisions too.

Overall Stoke Performance Rating: 5 – Seems as though most players are on the beach, misplaced passes and not nearly as much concentration as before. Matondo the only real shining light this week.
